Refunds and cancellations
Last reviewed 21 October 2026.
What you get back depends on two things: the fare you bought, and why you are not travelling. Here is how each case works and what we do along the way.
Before your ticket is issued
At checkout we place a hold on your card for the total; we do not take the money yet. The charge goes through only when your ticket is issued. If you cancel before that, or we cannot ticket, we release the hold and nothing is charged. Your card issuer controls how quickly the pending amount clears.
Within 24 hours
For most bookings to, from or within the United States made at least seven days before departure, US DOT rules allow you to cancel within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund to your card. Tell us as soon as you decide, because the window cannot be extended.
Refundable fares
Refundable and flexible fares can be cancelled for a refund, sometimes minus an airline fee. The money goes back to the card you paid with.
Non-refundable fares
Most lower-priced fares are not refundable if you simply change your plans. Depending on the fare, cancelling may leave you an airline credit, or only certain taxes back. Where some taxes or charges are refundable, we claim them for you.
When the airline cancels or makes a big change
Different rules apply here. If the airline cancels, or makes a significant change you do not accept, you are generally owed a refund to your card no matter how the fare was described. You do not have to take a voucher. Our delays guide explains what counts as significant.
How to ask
- Call (800) 555-0123 or email [email protected] with your
SLKreference. - Say whether you would like a refund, a credit or a new flight, because each is filed differently.
- We check the fare rules, send the request to the airline and confirm what it approves.
- Once approved, the refund goes back to your original card.
How long it takes
We aim to send a complete request to the airline within one business day. Airlines usually approve within a few business days, longer during major disruption. After approval, card refunds typically appear within one or two statements. Ask us any time for an update.
Service fees
A SlickFlight service fee covers work already done and is generally not refundable. If we have not started that work, or if the trip fell through because of our mistake, we refund it. Airline penalties are set by the airline and passed on unchanged.
Tickets bought elsewhere
We can only process refunds for tickets we issued. If your reference does not start with SLK, please contact the company you bought from.
